Light Bulbs
Unless otherwise noted, Chrysler part numbers are from [Chrysler 1959] and/or [NAPA 1937]. Design volts, amps, output and filament information is from [GE 1970].
[Chilton 1931 293] notes that:
“All numbers over 100 are for headlights.
All numbers from 61 to 94 are for auxiliary lights.
Even numbers indicate double contact (D.C)
Odd numbers indicate single contact (S.C.)”
Apparently a large number of bulbs that were originally designed for headlights were later destined to be used in dome light and brake light applications.

- Note 1
- [Chrysler 1959] indicates that the 1000 bulb has a 32 CP rating. When sold in antique automotive swap meets these bulbs are often referred to as 50 CP bulbs. Several samples of the 1000 bulb and the original boxes they were delivered in clearly indicate that the bulb is 32cp/32cp. The filament type of the 1000 is based on examination of a sample bulb.
- Note 2
- Information from [Chilton 1931 293]. The 1116 bulb was listed as a 32cp replacement for the 21cp 1110 bulb. [NAPA 1937] shows the 1110 bulb to be a two filament bulb with each filament at 21cp. It also shows the 1116 to be a two filament bulb with 21cp and 32cp ratings. Photos of a boxy of 1116 bulbs provided by Jeff Machusak that confirms the 32cp/21cp rating and lists the bulb shape as S-10 (1-1/4 inch diameter spherical) while the photos show as slightly non-spherical shape but not the RP-11 shape of other era headlight bulbs. The photos clearly show the filaments as C-2V.
- Note 3
- [Chilton 1931 293] indicates that the 1133 bulb was a 32 CP replacement for the 21 CP 1129. This seems odd in that the bulb shape and filament are different. It is unlikely that the 1133 could have been properly focused in head lamps designed for the 1129 bulb.
- Note 4
- Data on the 1188 bulb is based on samples clearly marked “50-32C 6-8V” The filament type and bulb shape listed here are based on examination of sample bulbs. Design voltage and current draw based on that typical of other 32cp and 50cp bulbs intended for the same application
